- Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil,
but those who promote peace have joy. - What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
- Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,
but those who speak rashly will come to ruin. - They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
- But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
- Give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.
- Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice. - Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart. - The one who gets wisdom loves life;
the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper. - Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute. - Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. - But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. - Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
- I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
- But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
- Because I rescued the poor who cried for help,
and the fatherless who had none to assist them.
The one who was dying blessed me;
I made the widow’s heart sing. - You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
- Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
- For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
- But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
- And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.
- Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the Lord.
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
