- Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not your peace at my tears!
For I am a sojourner with you,
a guest, like all my fathers. - When goods increase, they increase who eat them, and what advantage has their owner but to see them with his eyes?
- Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
- I cried to him with my mouth,
and high praise was on my tongue. - But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
- Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?

O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy! - Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry. - Learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow's cause. - But as for me, I will look to the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
my God will hear me. - Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me. - You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.
- For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.
- May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.
- Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,
and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
- We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me.

to a nation that was not called by my name. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
