Burdens be lifted up (2/4)

  • After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
  • For this is what the high and exalted One says—
he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
“I live in a high and holy place,
but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly
and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
  • A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
  • When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.
  • I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
  • He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
  • When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
  • Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
  • Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
  • Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
  • Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

but a kind word cheers it up.

  • There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.
  • How abundant are the good things
that you have stored up for those who fear you,
that you bestow in the sight of all,
on those who take refuge in you.
  • Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
  • The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • Because your love is better than life,
    my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
  • But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
  • And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
  • These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
  • But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
