- Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
- And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.
- Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
- And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ ” - So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done.”
- For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
- Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke? - Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation! Selah - I cried to Him with my mouth,
And He was extolled with my tongue. - Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith. - When they had pasture, they were filled;
They were filled and their heart was exalted;
Therefore they forgot Me. - Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all sins. - Arise, O Lord!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble. - Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. - He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds. - For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up. - If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. - A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger. - So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
- Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
- Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
- So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
- For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” - The vine has dried up,
And the fig tree has withered;
The pomegranate tree,
The palm tree also,
And the apple tree—
All the trees of the field are withered;
Surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.
The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
