Come and see (2/4)

  • Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
  • Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
  • Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
  • So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
  • Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.
  • On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!”
  • “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
  • But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.
  • He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!”
    Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
  • Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
  • See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
  • Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.
  • Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
  • Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness
while I am here in the land of the living.
  • Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven.
    And everyone will see him—
    even those who pierced him.
And all the nations of the world
    will mourn for him.
    Yes! Amen!
  • Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
  • Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
  • And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!
  • I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth!
  • I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’
  • Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.
  • Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength.
  • “The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!”
  • Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’

“Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.Next verse! With image
