- I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
- The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them.
- Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
- Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?”
For it is not wise to ask such questions. - “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
- You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
- Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
- Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
- “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
- Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.
- I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’ - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
- Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
- But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
- I will hasten and not delay
to obey your commands. - You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
- When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
- But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
- Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
- For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
- “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything.
- Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
- An honest witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
