Peace and understanding (3/4)

  • I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!
  • How beautiful upon the mountains
    are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
    who brings good news,
    who announces salvation,
    who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
  • For the mountains may depart
    and the hills be removed,
    but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
    and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,
    says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
  • Do not wear yourself out to get rich;
    be wise enough to desist.
  • For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
  • Hear my prayer, O Lord,
    and give ear to my cry;
    do not hold your peace at my tears.
    For I am your passing guest,
    an alien, like all my forebears.
  • So that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints.
  • Do not let loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
    bind them around your neck,
    write them on the tablet of your heart.
    So you will find favor and good repute
    in the sight of God and of people.
  • Even fools who keep silent are considered wise;
    when they close their lips, they are deemed intelligent.
  • If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
  • My child, do not forget my teaching,
    but let your heart keep my commandments;
    for length of days and years of life
    and abundant welfare they will give you.
  • Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
  • House and wealth are inherited from parents,
    but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
  • Now may the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, working among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
  • But he was wounded for our transgressions,
    crushed for our iniquities;
    upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
    and by his bruises we are healed.
  • May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
  • The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to keep still.
  • Because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
  • Now, discipline always seems painful rather than pleasant at the time, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
  • Therefore let us go on toward perfection, leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ, and not laying again the foundation: repentance from dead works and faith toward God, instruction about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
  • But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.
  • Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
  • Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing,
    “To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb
    be blessing and honor and glory and might
    forever and ever!”
  • The reward for humility and fear of the Lord
    is riches and honor and life.
  • I will extol you, my God and King,
    and bless your name forever and ever.

Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.

Bible verse of the day

One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and one whose temper is controlled than one who captures a city.
