- Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory,
for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! - Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
- So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
- Return, faithless Israel,
declares the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful,
declares the Lord;
I will not be angry forever. - Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O Lord! - I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations. - Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones. - But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
- Make your face shine on your servant;
save me in your steadfast love! - From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
- For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
- Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!
- But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
- Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
- Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
- You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in your word.
