- Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke? - Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
- Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Amen. - And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

- From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
- Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
- For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
- So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
