Chinese (traditional)- And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
- My son, pay attention to what I say;
turn your ear to my words.
Do not let them out of your sight,
keep them within your heart. - Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
- But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
- Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
- Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
- Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
- Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun. - For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you. - Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
- Do not forsake your friend or a friend of your family,
and do not go to your relative’s house when disaster strikes you—
better a neighbor nearby than a relative far away. - Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
- Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
- Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.
- Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
- If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
- Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
- Help us, God our Savior,
for the glory of your name;
deliver us and forgive our sins
for your name’s sake. - You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way. - If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
- Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
- But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
- You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
- If you really change your ways and your actions and deal with each other justly, if you do not oppress the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow and do not shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not follow other gods to your own harm, then I will let you live in this place, in the land I gave your ancestors for ever and ever.
- I will hasten and not delay
to obey your commands.
The Lord will vindicate me;
your love, Lord, endures forever—
do not abandon the works of your hands.Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.Next verse!With image
