13 Bible Verses about Selfishness

« 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 »
New Internation VersionReina-Valera 1960
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.
No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.Cada uno de nosotros agrade a su prójimo en lo que es bueno, para edificación.
Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinions.
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.Y el segundo es semejante: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. No hay otro mandamiento mayor que éstos.
Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise.
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.Inclina mi corazón a tus testimonios, Y no a la avaricia.
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”Y llamando a la gente y a sus discípulos, les dijo: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.Con Cristo estoy juntamente crucificado, y ya no vivo yo, mas vive Cristo en mí; y lo que ahora vivo en la carne, lo vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios, el cual me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí.
