- Open your mouth, judge righteously,
defend the rights of the poor and needy. - By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host. - Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. - And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.”
- Fine speech is not becoming to a fool;
still less is false speech to a prince. - The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
the heart of the wicked is of little worth. - If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.
- I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth. - The one who conceals hatred has lying lips,
and whoever utters slander is a fool. - But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
- I have not departed from the commandment of his lips;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. - In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears. - And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
- For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
- And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
- Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord,
but those who act faithfully are his delight. - And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
- And you will say in that day:
“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim that his name is exalted.” - And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
- I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. - Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.
- And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
- The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the inner parts of the body. - And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
- But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
