Chinese (traditional)And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. A person without self-control
is like a city with broken-down walls. Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Have you never heard?
Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony! And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom. Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him. Pride ends in humiliation,
while humility brings honor. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever. For I command you this day to love the Lord your God and to keep his commands, decrees, and regulations by walking in his ways. If you do this, you will live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to enter and occupy. There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death. Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. I said to the Lord, “You are my Master!
Every good thing I have comes from you.” Hiding hatred makes you a liar;
slandering others makes you a fool. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. He will judge everyone according to what they have done. But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.Next verse!With image
