Chinese (traditional)Do not let kindness and fidelity leave you;
fasten them around your neck
and inscribe them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will gain favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man. In the same way, even the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs that cannot be put into words. But as for you,
the anointing you received from him
remains in you,
and therefore you do not need anyone
to teach you.
This same anointing
teaches you everything
and is true and not false,
so abide in him just as he taught you. A patient man shows good sense,
but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly. The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. Do not envy a violent man
or choose to emulate any of his ways.
For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord
whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life and honor too. While experiencing temptation, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one. If the Lord does not build the house,
those who construct it labor in vain.
If the Lord does not guard the city,
those who keep watch over it do so in vain. It was for freedom that Christ set us free. Therefore, stand firm and refuse to submit again to the yoke of slavery. And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and the one you have sent,
Jesus Christ. I will, thereby, display my greatness and my holiness and make myself known to many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord. Above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or use any oaths at all. Let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No.” Otherwise you may be condemned. Who can find a worthy wife?
She is far more precious than pearls. I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. The one who pays heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. I am not asking you
to take them out of the world,
but I do ask you
to protect them from the evil one. His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you much greater responsibilities. Come and share your master’s joy.’ For his anger lasts for only a moment,
while his goodwill endures for a lifetime.
Weeping may last throughout the night,
but at daybreak there is rejoicing. Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world. In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me. I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye? For thus says the One who is high and exalted,
who lives eternally
and whose name is holy:
I dwell in a high and holy place
but I am with the contrite and the humble,
to revive the spirit of the humble
and to revive the heart of the contrite. Entrust everything that you do to the Lord,
and your plans will turn out to be successful. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight. As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Nor should you present any part of your body as an instrument for wickedness leading to sin. Rather, present yourselves to God as having been raised from death to life and the parts of your body to God as instruments for righteousness. These are the words of the Lord of hosts:
Stand at the crossroads and look around;
ask for the ancient paths.
When you are shown where the good way lies,
walk along it and your souls will find rest.
However, they said, “We will not take it.” To him all the Prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him will receive forgiveness of sins through his name. Is anyone among you sick? He should send for the presbyters of the Church so that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.Next verse!With image
