The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. | The fear of the Lord implies hatred of evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil ways and perverse speech. |
Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. | Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from anything that can defile flesh or spirit, and thereby make our holiness perfect in the fear of God. |
