- And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.”
- I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass. - Though an army encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
yet I will be confident. - Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you
and worked for those who take refuge in you,
in the sight of the children of mankind! - And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
- Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
- And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
- The ransom of a man's life is his wealth,
but a poor man hears no threat. - For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good.
You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’Next verse!With image
