Bible Verses about Giving

  • Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
  • But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.
  • A gift opens the way
    and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
  • A generous person will prosper;
    whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
  • For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.
  • Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
  • Honor the Lord with your wealth,
    with the firstfruits of all your crops.
  • Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
  • You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
  • And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
  • Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
    when it is in your power to act.
  • “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
  • So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
  • Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.
  • Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
  • All day long he craves for more,
    but the righteous give without sparing.
  • Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
  • The wicked borrow and do not repay,
    but the righteous give generously.
  • Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
  • But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
  • Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
  • Speak up and judge fairly;
    defend the rights of the poor and needy.
  • Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
  • John answered, “Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none, and anyone who has food should do the same.”
