- God is not human, that he should lie,
or the son of man, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act,
does he promise and then not fulfill it? - Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

he does whatever he pleases. - But the Almighty we cannot find;
he is unequaled in power and judgment,
and in his righteousness he will not violate justice. - For to you a thousand years
are like a yesterday that has passed
or one of the watches of the night. - He builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth—
the Lord is his name. - This is the Lord’s message to Zerubbabel: Not by force, nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
- And ‘to love him with all your heart, and with all your understanding, and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself,’ is worth more than any burnt offerings and sacrifices.
- And a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
- You believe that there is one God. You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble.
