We loathed him and regarded him as of no account, as one from whom men avert their gaze. | He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him. |
This is how we know what love is: he laid down his life for us, and we in turn must be prepared to lay down our lives for our brethren. | We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters. |
