Law (3/5)

The wise in heart will receive commands, But a prating fool will fall. The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.
Incline my heart to Your testimonies, And not to covetousness.Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.
I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’
And I will walk at liberty, For I seek Your precepts.I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever!
The way of the Lord is strength for the upright, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked.
Therefore you shall keep My commandments, and perform them: I am the Lord. You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the tablets of stone on which I have inscribed the instructions and commands so you can teach the people.”
Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart.Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.
My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you.My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die.Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death.
‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.
I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments.I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

If a person sins, and commits any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the Lord, though he does not know it, yet he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.
