Law (3/5)

You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.
Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands.Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.
The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction.
Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. Thus you shall keep my commandments and observe them: I am the Lord.
Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, and be careful to observe my ordinances, and hallow my sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.
When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.You must diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his decrees, and his statutes that he has commanded you.
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. You who want to be justified by the law have cut yourselves off from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.
Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.If any of you sin without knowing it, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, you have incurred guilt, and are subject to punishment.
So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and your renown are the soul's desire.
The very essence of your words is truth; all your just regulations will stand forever. The sum of your word is truth; and every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.
But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations. We have sinned and done wrong, acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and ordinances.
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. So who, then, are you to judge your neighbor?
The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The way of the Lord is a stronghold for the upright, but destruction for evildoers.
I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.I delight in the way of your decrees as much as in all riches.
And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.I will put my spirit within you, and make you follow my statutes and be careful to observe my ordinances.
Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.

I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.

Bible verse of the day

God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.
But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
