- I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
- But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.
- ‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’
- The instructions of the Lord are perfect,
reviving the soul.
The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple. - The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
- You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord.

How joyful are those who fear the Lord
and delight in obeying his commands. - Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.
- A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
- So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
- The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
- Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
- You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.
- Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.
- For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
- I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money! - Your laws are my treasure;
they are my heart’s delight. - And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.
- Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.
- I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
- But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
- Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.
- This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another.
