- The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein. - Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
- Hear, my son, and receive my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many. - As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
- For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” - The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. - For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel:
“Seek Me and live.” - For in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
- Teach me Your way, O Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name. - Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord! - But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.
- But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
- Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all. - Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
- He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
- Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance.
- For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
- Go, eat your bread with joy,
And drink your wine with a merry heart;
For God has already accepted your works. - But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
- All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
- For a thousand years in Your sight
Are like yesterday when it is past,
And like a watch in the night. - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
- And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.
- For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
- For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
