Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. | I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. |
That I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you, find rest. | That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. |
|
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire. | For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. |
The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever. | And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. |
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ. | For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. |
My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the center of your heart. | My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. |
I will hurry, and not delay, to obey your commandments. | I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. |
One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. | He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. |
I am Yahweh your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them. Make my Sabbaths holy. They shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God. | I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God. |
A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. |
Therefore you shall keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh. | Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the Lord. |
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me. | Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. |
Who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross. | Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. |
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. | But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. |
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine. | Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine. |
‘Return to me,’ says Yahweh of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says Yahweh of Armies. | Turn ye unto me, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. |
Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. | Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. |
You shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. | Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. |
Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” | Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. |
Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. | Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |
Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation. | And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. |
If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments, and do them, then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. | If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. |
Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience. | Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. |
You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you. | Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. |
Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth. | Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. |
