For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? | Which one of you, intending to build a tower, would not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has sufficient funds for its completion? |

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. | For I know full well the plans I have for you, plans for your welfare and not for your misfortune, plans that will offer you a future filled with hope. |
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. | A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure. |
Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. | May he give you your heart’s desire and grant you success in all your plans. |
Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. | Plans miscarry when counsel is lacking, but they succeed when there are many counselors. |

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. | For everything there is a season, and a time for every activity under heaven. |
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. | For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. |
Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. | Do not wear yourself out in the pursuit of wealth, and cease even to think about it. |
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. | Teach us to comprehend how few our days are so that our hearts may be filled with wisdom. |
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. | As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts above your thoughts. |
This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working. | All this knowledge comes from the Lord of hosts whose counsel is wonderful and whose wisdom is great. |
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. | However, God has revealed these things to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit explores everything, even the depths of God. |
Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. | Indeed, the Lord God does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets. |
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous. | Do not envy a violent man or choose to emulate any of his ways. For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright. |
