When pride is nurtured, disgrace soon follows, but wisdom is the hallmark of the humble.When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven. For all of his works are right, and all of his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
The brother who is in modest circumstances should take pride in being raised up. Likewise, the one who is rich should glory in being brought low, for he will disappear like a flower of the field.Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower.
Instruct those who are rich in this world’s goods that they should not be proud, nor should they trust in the uncertainty of riches but rather in God who richly provides us with everything we need for our enjoyment.Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
If I give away everything to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but do not have love, I achieve nothing.If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart and quickly forgot me.When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.
