Reward (2/2)

  • The heart is devious above all else;
    it is perverse—
    who can understand it?
I the Lord test the mind
    and search the heart,
to give to all according to their ways,
according to the fruit of their doings.
  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Be on your guard, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but may receive a full reward.
  • If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
  • For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
  • As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
  • Am I now seeking human approval, or God's approval? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still pleasing people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
  • Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one.
  • I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
  • Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble. For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you.
  • The hand of the diligent will rule,
while the lazy will be put to forced labor.
  • I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
  • Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.
  • I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
  • To the one who conquers I will give a place with me on my throne, just as I myself conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
  • By faith he received power of procreation, even though he was too old—and Sarah herself was barren—because he considered him faithful who had promised.
  • Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature.
  • But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that your fasting may be seen not by others but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
  • And whenever you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so as to show others that they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.
  • For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever.
  • And steadfast love belongs to you, O Lord.
    For you repay to all
    according to their work.

Bible verse of the day

What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin go on living in it?
