- For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin.
- He reserves his wisdom for the upright
and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. - Let those who are wise understand these words,
and let the prudent acknowledge them.
For straight are the ways of the Lord;
the upright walk in them,
but sinners stumble. - If we are diligent in observing all of these commandments before the Lord, our God, as he commanded of us, then this will be our righteousness.
- We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that a man is justified not by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in him and not by the works of the Law, for no one will be justified by the works of the Law.
- I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom
and led you along the paths of righteousness. - Train a child in the way he should go,
and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. - For light produces all goodness and righteousness and truth.
- Blessed are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. - And yet he is aware of everywhere I go;
if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold.
My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established;
I have followed his way and never turned aside. - Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
- The proud man’s heart is not upright,
but the righteous man will live
because of his faith. - The tongue of the just man is like pure silver;
the heart of the wicked is without worth. - The hope of the righteous brings them joy,
but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. - He is a rock, his deeds are perfect,
and all of his ways are just.
He is a God of truth who does no wrong;
he is just and upright. - The one who provides seed for sowing and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
- I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now waiting for me is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who have eagerly longed for his appearance.
- Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord;
you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. - Nor should you present any part of your body as an instrument for wickedness leading to sin. Rather, present yourselves to God as having been raised from death to life and the parts of your body to God as instruments for righteousness.
- The righteous is remembered with blessings,
but the name of the wicked fades away. - For he guards the paths of justice
and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. - Let your eyes look straight ahead;
fix your gaze on what lies before you. - Riches will be of no avail on the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death. - “All things are lawful,” you may say—but not all things are beneficial. All things may be lawful—but not all things are constructive.
- If you listen to the voice of the Lord, your God, and you do what is right in his sight, if you listen to his ordinances and observe all of his laws, I will not bring upon you any of the diseases that I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.
