Chinese (traditional)- Thou, O Lord, remainest for ever;
thy throne from generation to generation. - Without counsel purposes are disappointed:
but in the multitude of counsellors they are established. - With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful;
with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright. - Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted. - Iron sharpeneth iron;
so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. - And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.
- Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
- The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich:
he bringeth low, and lifteth up. - Honour widows that are widows indeed.
- A fool's wrath is presently known:
but a prudent man covereth shame. - Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
- Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.
- Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
- Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies. - Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
- Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
- Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
- I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
- But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.
- Defend the poor and fatherless:
do justice to the afflicted and needy. - As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
- O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
thou understandest my thought afar off. - Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
- Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.Whither shall I go from thy spirit?
or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.Next verse!With image
