- When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words.
- As for me, I trust in your kindness;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord
because he has been good to me. - Therefore, put on the armor of God, so that you will be able to hold fast on the evil day and to hold your ground with all your strength.
- Flee from sexual immorality! Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the fornicator sins against his own body.
- However, now that you have been freed from sin and bound to the service of God, the benefit you receive is sanctification, and the end is eternal life.
- This is how you should pray:
‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’ - For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these.
- May I never boast of anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world is crucified to me and I to the world.
- What then shall we say? Should we persist in sin in order that grace may abound? Of course not! We have died to sin. How can we live in it any longer?
- The Lord has told you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - But to those of you who are listening to me, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
- In all of your prayers and entreaties, pray always in the Spirit. To that end, keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.
- Love does not rejoice over wrongdoing
but rejoices in the truth.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things. - “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are beneficial. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not allow myself to be dominated by anything.
- Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
- The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord shine his face upon you and be gracious to you.
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace. - The one who sows in his flesh will reap a harvest of corruption, but the one who sows in the Spirit will reap from the Spirit the reward of eternal life.
- However, those who want riches fall into temptations and are trapped into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
- But without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
- He said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised. He is not here. See the place where they laid him.”
- Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
rather than relying on your own intelligence.
In everything you do, acknowledge him,
and he will see that your paths are straight. - He builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and establishes his vault of the sky over the earth—
the Lord is his name. - Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of them, for the Lord, your God, is going forth with you. He will never leave you or abandon you.
- The Lord commanded us to observe all of these statutes and to fear the Lord, our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, even as we are today.
- For God would not be so unjust as to ignore your work and the love that you have shown for his name by the services you have rendered to the saints and still continue to render.
