- Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord guards the city,
the guard keeps watch in vain. - And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.
- Therefore encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.
- For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has enough to complete it?

- But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
- For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
- Who builds his upper chambers in the heavens,
and founds his vault upon the earth;
who calls for the waters of the sea,
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth—
the Lord is his name. - Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.
- Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
- Meanwhile the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was built up. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he not leave us or abandon us.
