- Can one go upon hot coals,
and his feet not be burned? - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
- The Lord is on my side; I will not fear:
what can man do unto me? - Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is far above rubies. - In God I will praise his word,
in God I have put my trust;
I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. - What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
- Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
- Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.
- I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
- Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?
by taking heed thereto according to thy word. - So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
- Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
- No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
- Whither shall I go from thy spirit?
or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. - The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked: who can know it?
I the Lord search the heart,
I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. - Can a woman forget her sucking child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
yea, they may forget,
yet will I not forget thee.
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
thy walls are continually before me. - For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
- If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
- And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
- He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
- Great peace have they which love thy law:
and nothing shall offend them. - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
- What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
- Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
- It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:
but every fool will be meddling.
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
