- For in much wisdom is much grief:
and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. - A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth:
he will guide his affairs with discretion. - Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. - A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth:
and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! - The Lord is good,
a strong hold in the day of trouble;
and he knoweth them that trust in him. - Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil:
but to the counsellors of peace is joy. - Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
- For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
- The hope of the righteous shall be gladness:
but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. - For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
- Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him:
fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,
because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. - And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
- Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
- Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
- Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
- And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
- And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
- Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
- And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
- Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
- He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
- If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
- Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
- Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
- But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ.Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
