- For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
- Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord. - I will praise you with an upright heart
as I learn your righteous laws. - Blessed are those who keep his statutes
and seek him with all their heart. - See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
- A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin. - All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.
- So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless. - Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
- Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor. - Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings. - When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord;
he brought me into a spacious place. - Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
- “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
- The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.” - For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
- Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
- I made a covenant with my eyes
not to look lustfully at a young woman. - Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
- “Even now,” declares the Lord,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.” - Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do.
- For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
- Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;
for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.Next verse!With image
