- Woe to him who strives with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’? - And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”
- But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
- Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
- But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes, and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.
- As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him;
He is excellent in power,
In judgment and abundant justice;
He does not oppress. - The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
Gracious in all His works. - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- For the word of the Lord is right,
And all His work is done in truth. - But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
- The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives. - He covets greedily all day long,
But the righteous gives and does not spare. - For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?
- God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? - Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
- And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?
- Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.
- These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat all that have fins and scales. And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
- I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
- Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
- If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
- Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.
- A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones. - The ransom of a man’s life is his riches,
But the poor does not hear rebuke. - He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
