- So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
- Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! - Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
- If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

- Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.

Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - Fools have no interest in understanding;

so the heart reflects the real person. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - The rich can pay a ransom for their lives,
but the poor won’t even get threatened. - Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.
Surely you repay all people
according to what they have done. - He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west. - But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
- Evil people get rich for the moment,
but the reward of the godly will last. - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
- People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. - Repent, and turn from your sins. Don’t let them destroy you!
- Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
- One should be kind to a fainting friend,
but you accuse me without any fear of the Almighty. - “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)
- Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
- So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.
