Don’t (3/4)

  • Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
  • When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made.
  • The Lord will fulfill his plan for me.
    Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever;
    do not forsake the work of your hands.
  • I have given you a command. Be strong and brave, do not be afraid nor dismayed. I, the Lord, your God, will be with you wherever you go.
  • When you pray do not go on babbling endlessly as the pagans do, for they believe that they are more likely to be heard because of their many words.
  • But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
  • Repent and renounce all your transgressions. Otherwise your iniquity will prove to be your downfall.
  • Arise, O Lord! Lift up your hand, O God!
    Do not forget the afflicted.
  • But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or how tall he stands, for the Lord has rejected him. He does not see the way that men see, for men look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
  • Do not be afraid or dismayed, the Lord will go before you; he will not fail or forsake you.
  • Peace I leave with you,
    my peace I give to you.
    Not as the world gives
    do I give it to you.
    Do not let your hearts be troubled;
    be not afraid.
  • Do not envy a violent man
    or choose to emulate any of his ways.
    For the perverse man is an abomination to the Lord
    whose friendship is bestowed only upon the upright.
  • Do not pride yourself on your own wisdom;
    fear the Lord and turn your back on evil.
    This will provide healing for your flesh
    and restore strength to your body.
  • Hear my prayer, O Lord;
    do not be deaf to my cry
    or ignore my weeping.
    For I am a wayfarer before you,
    a nomad like all my ancestors.
  • Have no fear of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
  • Wait quietly for the Lord
    and be patient until he comes.
    Do not fret over the man who prospers
    because of his evil schemes.
  • Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common?
  • Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth:
    it is better for you that I depart.
    For if I do not go away,
    the Advocate will not come to you,
    whereas if I go,
    I will send him to you.
  • I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Repent and live!
  • And do not lead us into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one.
  • The wicked man borrows but neglects to repay,
    whereas the righteous man is generous in giving.
  • Are you not aware that wrongdoers will never inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites, thieves, extortioners, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers—none of these will inherit the kingdom of God.
  • The Lord then said, “Very well. All that he has is in your power. However, you may not lay a hand upon him.” So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
  • Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.”
  • No one should seek his own advantage in preference to that of his neighbor.

Let mutual love continue, and do not forget to offer hospitality to strangers, for by doing this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Bible verse of the day

He gives a home to those who are forsaken
and leads out prisoners amid chants of exultation,
while rebels are forced to live in an arid land.

The Lord is my shepherd;
there is nothing I shall lack.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me to tranquil streams.
