- Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
praise and exalt and glorify
the King of heaven.
For all of his works are right,
and all of his ways are just.
Also, he is able to humble
all those who follow the path of pride. - When I am terrified,
I place my trust in you. - Indeed, who is God except the Lord?
Who is the Rock besides our God? - When you fix your gaze upon it,
it is gone before you realize it.
For it suddenly sprouts wings
and flies up to the sky like an eagle. - Keep in mind, therefore, that the Lord, your God, is God. He is a faithful God who keeps his covenant of mercy to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and observe his commandments.
- Fear not, little flock, for your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.
- God saved us and called us to a life of holiness, not because of our works but according to his own purpose and the grace that has been bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus from all eternity.
- I also ask that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing. They should be adorned not with braided hair or with gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good works, as is fitting for women who profess their reverence for God.
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel, since it is the power of God that offers salvation to everyone who has faith—to Jews first, and then to Gentiles as well.
- Nor would someone light a lamp and then put it under a basket; rather, it is placed upon a lampstand so that it may afford light to all in the house. In the same way, your light must shine so that it can be seen by others; this will enable them to observe your good works and give praise to your Father in heaven.
- I will put my Spirit in you and make you follow my statutes and my ordinances.
- How wonderful and delightful it is
for brothers to live together in unity. - Rather, revere Christ as Lord in your hearts.
Always be prepared to offer an explanation to anyone who asks you to justify the hope that is in you. However, do so with gentleness and respect. - For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all is God.
- It is better to take refuge in the Lord
than to place your trust in mortals. - You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made;
awesome are your works,
as I know very well. - If you abide in me
and my words abide in you,
you may ask for whatever you wish,
and it will be done for you. - Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - Do you not realize that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
- But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience.
- It is better to spend one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in God’s house
than dwell inside the tents of the wicked. - Guide me in your truth and instruct me,
for you are God, my Savior,
and in you I hope all the day long. - It is the Lord, your God, whom you are to follow. You must fear him and observe his commandments and obey what he tells you and serve him and hold fast to him.
- And let us consider how to spur one another to love and good works. Do not neglect to attend your assemblies, as some do, but rather encourage one another, especially since you can see the Day approaching.
- O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast
because of their trust in you.
