Bible Verses about 'Friend'

Some friends play at friendship but a true friend sticks closer than one's nearest kin.A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
A friend loves at all times, and kinsfolk are born to share adversity.A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Do not forsake your friend or the friend of your parent; do not go to the house of your kindred in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than kindred who are far away.Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Those who withhold kindness from a friend forsake the fear of the Almighty. To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
Adulterers! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend. He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens the wits of another.Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
A perverse person spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth from their heart; who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors. He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he had prayed for his friends; and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Do not envy the violent and do not choose any of their ways; for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
My friends, if anyone is detected in a transgression, you who have received the Spirit should restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness. Take care that you yourselves are not tempted.Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Why do you see the speck in your neighbor's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and of spirit, making holiness perfect in the fear of God.Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors, but by knowledge the righteous are delivered. An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

Beloved, we are God's children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
