- Wash you, make you clean;
put away the evil of your doings
from before mine eyes;
cease to do evil. - The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. - For they got not the land in possession by their own sword,
neither did their own arm save them:
but thy right hand, and thine arm,
and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. - Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
- Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished:
but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. - And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
- And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
- Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
- Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
- And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
- Whither shall I go from thy spirit?
or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there:
if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. - For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
- And rend your heart,
and not your garments,
and turn unto the Lord your God:
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and of great kindness,
and repenteth him of the evil. - Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
- Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord.
