- As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us. - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to prisoners
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free. - A patient man shows good sense,
but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly. - If someone says, “I love God,”
but at the same time hates his brother,
he is a liar.
For whoever does not love the brother
whom he has seen
cannot love God whom he has not seen. - And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me
because the Lord has anointed me.
He has sent me to announce good news to the oppressed,
to strengthen the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom to those held in captivity
and release to those who have been imprisoned. - Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with your whole heart, considering the great things he has done for you.
- The vine has withered;
the fig tree droops.
The pomegranate, the palm, and the apple tree—
all the trees of the field have dried up.
And the joy of the people
has also withered away. - For it has been granted you not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him.
- Owe nothing to anyone except the debt of love you owe one another. The one who loves others has fulfilled the Law.
- We also know
that the Son of God has come
and given us understanding
so that we can know the one who is true.
And we are in the one who is true,
since we are in his Son Jesus Christ.
He is the true God and eternal life. - Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.
- The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
- I love the Lord because he has heard my voice
and listened to my cry for mercy,
because he has inclined his ear to me
on the day when I called out to him. - Whoever believes in me,
as Scripture has said,
‘Streams of living water
shall flow from within him.’ - You shall take heed to observe the commandments of the Lord, your God, and the decrees and statutes that he has given to you.
- If a man has recently been married, he is not to go off to battle nor have any other duty laid on him. He will be free to stay at home for one year so that he can bring happiness to the wife whom he has married.
- The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
- You might say to yourself, “How can we know that the Lord did not speak the message?” If what the prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord is not true and it does not happen, then the message was not proclaimed by the Lord. The prophet has spoken presumptuously, you should not fear him.
- Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;
whoever does not believe in the Son will not see life,
but the wrath of God rests upon him. - All this has been done by God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation.
- Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. - Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - Do not succumb to the love of money, but be content with what you have, for God has said, “I will never forsake you or abandon you.”
- Exalted at God’s right hand, he received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.
