Him (2/4)

  • But without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
  • But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there.
  • As Scripture asserts, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.”
  • God is Spirit,
    and those who worship him
    must worship in Spirit and truth.
  • The Lord is my portion, I say to myself;
    therefore, I will place my hope in him.
  • And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I wish to make another creature who will be like him.”
  • Blessed are those who observe his statutes
    and seek him with their whole heart.
  • Taste and see that the Lord is good;
    blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
  • While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him.
  • Beloved,
    we are God’s children now.
    What we shall be
    has not yet been revealed.
    However, we do know that when he appears
    we shall be like him,
    for we shall see him as he really is.
    Everyone who has this hope in him
    keeps himself pure,
    just as he is pure.
  • Every word of God has proved to be true;
    he is a shield to those who trust in him.
  • However, to those who did accept him
    and who believed in his name
    he granted the power to become children of God.
  • But whoever drinks the water that I will give him
    will never be thirsty.
    The water that I will give him
    will become a spring of water within him
    welling up to eternal life.
  • And when he had been made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
  • Therefore, observe the commandments of the Lord, your God. Walk in his ways and fear him.
  • Jesus said to him, “Go on your way! Your faith has made you well.” Immediately, he received his sight and followed him along the road.
  • But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
    on those who trust in his kindness.
  • The one who eats everything must not look contemptuously on the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed both.
  • Beloved,
    if our hearts do not condemn us,
    we can approach God with confidence
    and receive from him whatever we ask,
    because we obey his commandments
    and do whatever is pleasing to him.
  • Whoever feeds upon my flesh and drinks my blood
    dwells in me and I dwell in him.
  • As a father has compassion for his children,
    so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him.
  • This is how we can be certain
    that we abide in him
    and that he abides in us:
    he has given us a share in his Spirit.
  • If your brother should sin, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. Even if he wrongs you seven times a day, and comes back to you seven times to say, ‘I am sorry,’ you must forgive him.
  • In my anguish I cried out;
    the Lord heard my plea,
    and I was saved from all my troubles.
  • The Lord is good,
    an unfailing refuge in a time of distress.
    He takes care of those who place their trust in him.

Then Peter came up to him and asked, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy times seven.”

Bible verse of the day

See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him.
