- And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- For he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones. - But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
My feet have closely followed his steps;
I have kept to his way without turning aside. - This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.
- This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
- The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
- As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. - But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love. - The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
- Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance. - Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
- There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
- Praise the Lord.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands. - No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
- The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
- Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
- Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
- The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels.
- Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.
- Blessed are all who fear the Lord,
who walk in obedience to him. - If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction,
even their prayers are detestable. - I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.
- A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
- And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
- Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
