Just (2/4)

  • The proud man’s heart is not upright,
but the righteous man will live
    because of his faith.
  • Beloved,
    we are God’s children now.
    What we shall be
    has not yet been revealed.
However, we do know that when he appears
    we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he really is.
Everyone who has this hope in him
    keeps himself pure,
    just as he is pure.
  • In it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning in faith and established in faith. As it is written: “The one who is righteous will live through faith.”
  • However, if the wicked renounce all of the sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is right and just, they shall surely live; they shall not die.
  • Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar,
    praise and exalt and glorify
    the King of heaven.
For all of his works are right,
and all of his ways are just.
Also, he is able to humble
all those who follow the path of pride.
  • For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one man the many will be made righteous.
  • In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • My son, do not ignore the Lord’s discipline
or refuse to accept his rebuke.
For the Lord disciplines those whom he loves,
just as a father chastises a beloved son.
  • Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son.
  • In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
  • Rather, be kind to one another and compassionate, and forgive one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.
  • May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us.
  • Just as you do not know the path of the wind
or how the body is formed in a woman’s womb,
so you do not know the work of God,
    the Creator of all.
  • O Lord, let your kindness rest upon us,
for we have placed our hope in you.
  • Whatever moves and has life will be used for your food. I give you all these things, just as I have already given you every green plant. Only do not eat flesh along with its life, that is, with its blood.
  • The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
  • For to you a thousand years
are like a yesterday that has passed
or one of the watches of the night.
  • Beloved, I pray that everything is going well with you and that your bodily health is equal to that of your soul.
  • Bear with one another, and forgive one another if anyone has reason to be offended with another. You must forgive just as the Lord has forgiven you.
  • For the Lord loves the just,
and he will not forsake his faithful ones.
Those who follow evil paths will be destroyed,
and the children of the wicked will be cut off.
  • For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another.
  • He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
  • The righteous is remembered with blessings,
but the name of the wicked fades away.
  • Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church, the body of which he is the Savior.
  • Seek good and not evil,
    so that you may live.
Then the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you
    as you claim he is.

Blessings are showered on the head of the righteous,
but sorrow will cover the face of the wicked.
