Bible Verses about 'Lay'

  • There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
  • We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
  • Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
  • Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.”
  • So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
  • Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
  • In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
  • “Listen to me and make up your minds to honor my name,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “or I will bring a terrible curse against you. I will curse even the blessings you receive. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you have not taken my warning to heart.”
  • “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
  • Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.
Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.
  • So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
  • Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.
  • He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
  • Fearing people is a dangerous trap,
but trusting the Lord means safety.
  • So remember this and keep it firmly in mind: The Lord is God both in heaven and on earth, and there is no other.
  • We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
  • I will hurry, without delay,
    to obey your commands.
  • The Lord’s home reaches up to the heavens,
while its foundation is on the earth.
He draws up water from the oceans
and pours it down as rain on the land.
    The Lord is his name!
  • The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
    The skies display his craftsmanship.
    Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
  • The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great,
and he never lets the guilty go unpunished.
He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm.
The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.
  • What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.
Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,
    ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
    Does the pot exclaim,
    ‘How clumsy can you be?’
  • When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him.
  • Therefore, tell them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: No more delay! I will now do everything I have threatened. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!’

better to have self-control than to conquer a city.
