Make room (4/4)

  • Give careful thought to the paths for your feet
    and be steadfast in all your ways.
  • No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
  • You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
    my God turns my darkness into light.
  • I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
  • His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
  • Where there is strife, there is pride,
    but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
  • Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
  • The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
  • We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
  • All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
  • Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
    give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
  • Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
  • “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
    and from doing as you please on my holy day,
    if you call the Sabbath a delight
    and the Lord’s holy day honorable,
    and if you honor it by not going your own way
    and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
    then you will find your joy in the Lord,
    and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
    and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
    For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
  • May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us—
    yes, establish the work of our hands.
  • You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
  • You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
  • In their hearts humans plan their course,
    but the Lord establishes their steps.
  • You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
  • Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
    for I have put my trust in you.
    Show me the way I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.
  • Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
  • Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
    but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
  • When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
  • You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
  • The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath,
    but a harsh word stirs up anger.
