- A perverse man sows strife,
and a tale-bearer destroys close friendships. - How can a young man lead a spotless life?
By living according to your word. - What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his very life?
- A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - A good man produces good from the store of goodness in his heart, whereas an evil man produces evil from the store of evil within him. For the mouth speaks from the abundance of the heart.
- There is a way that seems right to a man,
but the end of it leads to death. - Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. - A man’s attraction is his kindness;
it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. - A man is haughty until disaster overtakes him,
but humility comes before honors. - The Lord God made clothing for the man and woman out of animal skins and he clothed them.
- What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
- Or can a man walk on red-hot coals
without scorching his feet? - But from the very beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh.’ And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.
- A man is joyful when he utters apt answers,
and even more satisfying is a word in season. - Alleluia.
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his precepts. - Jesus answered, “As it is written:
‘Man does not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’ ” - A patient man shows good sense,
but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly. - So if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out there. If they say, ‘Behold, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as lightning comes from the east and is visible even in the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
- The wicked man borrows but neglects to repay,
whereas the righteous man is generous in giving. - Just as water reflects one’s face,
so does one human heart reflect another. - How much more valuable a man is than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- All day long the godless man continues to covet,
whereas the righteous man gives unsparingly. - A man may plan his own course,
but the Lord makes his steps secure. - Blessed is the person who has found wisdom,
the one who has gained understanding. - In my anguish I cried out;
the Lord heard my plea,
and I was saved from all my troubles.
