- And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.

Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”
- The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
- Fearing people is a dangerous trap,
but trusting the Lord means safety. - In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;
he saved me from all my troubles. - I, yes I, am the one who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear? - The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me? - Loyalty makes a person attractive.
It is better to be poor than dishonest. - How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word. - Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.
- Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
- But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,
‘People do not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” - As a face is reflected in water,
so the heart reflects the real person. - One Sabbath day as Jesus was walking through some grainfields, his disciples began breaking off heads of grain to eat. But the Pharisees said to Jesus, “Look, why are they breaking the law by harvesting grain on the Sabbath?” Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read in the Scriptures what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He went into the house of God (during the days when Abiathar was high priest) and broke the law by eating the sacred loaves of bread that only the priests are allowed to eat. He also gave some to his companions.” Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!”
- Joyful is the person who finds wisdom,
the one who gains understanding. - As iron sharpens iron,
so a friend sharpens a friend. - Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?
- So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”
