- Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “no idol in the world really exists,” and that “there is no God but one.”

- Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
- But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace.
- I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.” - For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. - For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
- If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
- Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.
- I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
- For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- Woe to you who strive with your Maker,
earthen vessels with the potter!
Does the clay say to the one who fashions it, “What are you making”?
or “Your work has no handles”? - Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).
