Person (2/4)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.Unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done.
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.But if wicked people turn away from all their sins and begin to obey my decrees and do what is just and right, they will surely live and not die.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God.
If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.
For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.
Who will render to every man according to his deeds. He will judge everyone according to what they have done.
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit. Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.
And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.“All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
